Sub-Plenary on NBS

Driving transformative climate change adaptation in cities through nature-based solutions

“It is about living in one and the same world, with one and the same values and one and the same challenges”

Irina Bokova, Director General, UNESCO

Urban resilience is a complex pathway that inherently requires solutions that simultaneously answer several questions. By investing in nature-based solutions (NBS) and preserving urban and peri-urban biodiversity, cities can address the complexity of resilience (and its financing), through sustainable and integrated approaches that make sense. This special thematic sub-plenary discussion will highlight the multiple benefits of nature-based solutions (NBS) for urban resilience and adaptation to climate change.

The sub-plenary will take place on April 27th from 9.00 to 10.30 a.m. You can find the full sub-plenary description here.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), to our congress!
