Biography

Steven Ramage heads external relations for the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO). He works on the use of Earth observations (EO) to support the Sendai Framework, the Paris Agreement and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Most recently he has also been reviewing links to the New Urban Agenda and the potential role of EO. During his career Steven has successfully completed a management buyout, created an international government consulting business and was on the Board and subsequently Director of Strategy for a London startup – all in the location domain. His interests are translating technology into value for governments, notably relating to policy and with a view to delivering value and impact. He is Visiting Lecturer at the University of Geneva’s Institute of Environmental Science in Switzerland, Visiting Professor at the Institute for Future Cities at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and a SASNet Fellow at the Urban Big Data Centre at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He’s also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Member of the Global Advisory Council for the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).
